According to documents filed with the Federal Communication Commission, Apple is trying to get regulatory approval for a new network adapter that runs its mobile operating system.
What happened is that the product was registered under the name A2657 and it was mentioned as a network adapter for low-power communication device transmitters.

There are twoGbE ports, wi-fi, bluetooth, and ausb-C port. It also has 32 gigabytes of internal storage and 1.5 gigabytes of memory.

Another version of the device, with a lightning port, has been sought for approval by the company.

Apple analyst says consumer electronics demand is reappearing, not deferred, and sees further stock downside.

9to5Mac theorizes that it could be run on an Apple chip as it runs on a firmware called “19F47”.

The FCC has been testing it with computers.

It is unlikely that more details about this mystery product will emerge soon since Apple requested a non-disclosure agreement.

There was no apparent reason for Apple to end its AirPort wi-fi routers. There is speculation that a replacement could be coming or that the accessory could serve as a modern network hub for Mac users.

Mark Gurman wrote earlier that Apple should consider developing a modern mesh network version of the AirPort Extreme, with several small wi-fi hubs in a home for reliable connection in all areas.
